MOSCOW, Sep 12 (PRIME) -- Advertisements on platforms of such companies as Google are most likely a loophole to interfere in Russia’s sovereign affairs, Artur Zavalunov, head of the legal department of the Prosecutor General’s Office, said on Thursday at a meeting at the Federation Council, the parliament’s upper house.
“I’d like to underline that there were mentioned points on…Google and certainly we speak about other providers, which use their floors as they say to distribute so-called advertisements, but which is most likely a backdoor to meddle in our internal affairs,” Zavalunov said.
“Such an approach is unacceptable to the Russian Federation, and we’ve talked about it on international floors, at the U.N.”
The communications service said earlier it had revealed political advertisements on websites of Google and Facebook on the single voting day of September 8, while the law bans such activities.
